Bowes House, eco friendly bed and breakfast, just 5 minutes away from Beaminster and Crewkerne. Set in lovely gardens with outstanding views, organic, local and homeproduced food only, served. Only a short distance from the stunning Jurassic coastline and convenient for exploring Dorset, Somerset and Devon.

Bowes House is a family home situated on the edge of Mosterton village, between Beaminster and Crewkerne, at the end of a quiet no-through road which turns into a delightful bridleway.

  • Large garden. Our home is set in a three-quarter acre garden of shrubs and herbaceous borders, small orchard and charming ancient stone barn.
  • Home grown fruit and vegetables. We  grow our own soft fruit and vegetables.

  • Extensive and stunning views across the Dorset and Somerset countryside dotted with the occasional farmhouse, cows and sheep.

  • Eco credentials -Solar powered hot water; organic tissue products and soap; ecover cleaning products only/e.cloths;recycling and re-use where possible;wood fired cooker.

  • Tea and refreshments including homemade cakes or biscuits on arrival which can be taken in the garden or sitting room.

  • Open fire, television, video and DVD player in the large sitting room with views to the garden and across the valley.
  • Tea, coffee and soft drinks are available at any time from the family kitchen.
  • Help in creating picnics. We can loan cool boxes, baskets etc and even bicycles, rucksacks and maps for an impromptu expedition.
  • Good food pub, 5 minutes drive. Good beer pub, 5 minutes walk.

    There is a huge variety of places to see and visit from stunning gardens, historic houses, animal parks, local museums, amazing walking both locally and along the Dorset coastal path and the beautiful coast with its stunning geology and wealth of fossils. Rooms

The rooms are all large and comfortable with feather duvets and pillows with white cotton bed linen and towels, fresh flowers. Hairdryer for guest use. There is ample hanging space, thick white carpets and good showers. There are digital radios in each room, tissues from recycled paper, organic cotton buds and cotton wool, organic soap and shampoos etc.  
We have three bedrooms available:

The English room, a twin/double (a 6ft double which can be split into twin beds) with ensuite shower room.

The Spanish Room, a twin room with carved wooden bed heads from Spain, commissioned by my husband's grandmother, with ensuite bath and shower room.

Single room: shared use of bathroom with bath and shower. 

Breakfast

Fresh local, organic and garden produce is served at breakfast along with eggs from our hens. There is a wide choice, porridge, kippers, muesli, cereals, homemade yoghurt, stewed and fresh fruit, full English breakfast, or any combination of eggs, bacon,etc., bread/toast and homemade preserves and local honey.  This may be more limited in the winter months.

Well-behaved children and dogs welcome. Travel cot and bedding available, high chair and a small selection of toys and books. We have two young boys of our own who would be happy to share any other toys etc.
